Summer 2006 News
It's been a busy summer to say the least, with dozens of bands and some cool backyard bashes.

Summer was pretty busy indeed at Marpi Productions, expanding the roster of volunteers that helped out and to which we all owe much gratitude. The farthest back I can remember is May 20th at the Knights of Columbus hall in St-Jacques, The whole crew made it out and we had a pretty decent turn out. The local bands Voltron vs. the world powers and Unforgiven Memories opened up for Moncton Punk band Hope. Voltron played some DK Covers as well as some older Pillory songs, which is the singer's other project, they played pretty sloshes but had fun nonetheless, Unforgiven memories gave it their all and Hope just ripped it up, like they always do.

The Real Deal and All Star Assassins played a gig at the Bistro Bar May 28th. We were in for a treat as Dennon from ASA got up on stage with nothing but a sock on his... (another word that rhymes with 'sock'). The sock came off and he was treated to many alcoholic beverages, courtesy of some regular cougars that hang around that spot. Nakedness and free drinks all around! The real deal really took it away, the intensity was amazing, even for the weak turn out, almost a private show what a treat for those who got to see it!

We were also treated to an awesome show on May 30th with Youthinasia, Kid Gib, GFK and Degelis band Ninth Gate, the first line-up at the still virginal venue. Youthinasia and GFK were the highlights of the evening, the melodic punk band and the bone shattering vocals that came from GFK made for quite an impressive evening. With tons of support from bar owner Randy, this was pretty good evening. Both bands are scheduled to play later this year.

How loud can it get in here?
Another highlight of the summer was Fuck the Facts that did a house show in the Marpi apartment on June 28th. Equipped with an 8x10" ampeg bass cab, which is half of what the usualy use, it got really really loud. Mel just gave it all, I can't help but to be in awe. The ripping vocals the insane presence, it was quite a show for this little apartment. Local band Friend or Foe also made an appearance and had time to play a few songs before we had to call it quits. Tons of respect to FTF for putting on such an awesome show.

Another house party?
Oh yeah, this time, Mr. Davey and The Brat Attack came by for a visit on July 6th. We partied all night and then rocked out the next day, again in the humble Marpi apartment, which was not so humble afterwards, they laid out a pretty intense set! Friend or Foe was kind enough to provide some more tunes, as you can see, they've kept themselves quite busy as well. The Brat Attack came back a month later with Soap Opera Coma, Summer Hero and Red October and we hope to see them again sometime in the near future.

Joey Balducchi Rocking it out at O' Black Jack

Then we had a visit from Joey Balducchi and Wax Mannequin on July 17th, in which they did an acoustic house show. Just warming us up for the 18th where they met up with When I Fall, Monkey Trouble and Two local bands. The house show was impressive to say the least, Joey let out some pretty interesting guitar work and Wax just played his tunes with as much intensity as he always does, I was quite pleased to have them as our guests. The 18th was at the Black Jack and all the bands did quite well, the contrast between the styles really made everything stand out and blended very well together. We then hit the beach a few times, again the next day. Joey Balducchi should be around again by early next year.
